Meet CdA's scholars. Our CdA scholars are bright, energetic and extremely hardworking. For many of them, the opportunity to attend high school is a dream come true. Being the first in their family to attend high school and or attend college is something out of a fairytale. They are beating the odds. They are changing their community. They are today's young leaders.

A CdA scholar must meet several requirements every single year in order to be part of the scholarship program. Students work with Manuel Dominguez, Program Development Director in El Salvador on special community projects, community activism, and leadership camps throughout the year.  Students are required to submit report cards/ transcripts on a yearly basis. The Salvadoran education system provides final grades at the end of the school year.

  • Must excel academically. Students must work hard to maintain an above satisfactory grade point average. Most students take several buses and spend numerous hours riding the bus in order to get to  their high school or university site.

  • Must exhibit exceptional leadership potential

  • Must participate in community service activities.

    • Recipient must lead/ develop and implement education based programs/ workshops for the community.

They facilitate appointments with the doctors, fill in paperwork for illiterate patients, measure heights and weights, and deliver prescriptions. Their first campaign of the year is to vaccinate all the dogs and cats of the community. They fill out identification paperwork for the animals (for pet’s family) and give general recommendations for taking care of pets. Their second campaign is abatización of families’ water supplies.
