Recent Updates
This week, we wanted to mix things up and give everyone an update on our programs!
Farming for the Future
The Farming for the Future Program has grown exponentially, and we're extremely proud of the work everyone has done. Since the Milpa were introduced, they have been growing exponentially, and the community has demonstrated the ability to grow completely organic corn from start to finish. The community has also been successful in making repellents and organic fertilizers. By continuing to work with families participating in the agroecological program, workshops have been introduced to encourage teamwork
Mental Health Workshop
In addition to our scholarship program, our recipients participate in a monthly mental health workshop. This past month was themed: My Personal Care with a focus on subjects like healthy nutrition, physical exercise, harmony with nature, and the importance of having personal time.
This September, our young scholars received a double dose of mental health workshops with the continuation of the psychological workshop centered on communication, and a workshop focused on sexuality and the diversity of said subject. Communication is so incredibly important as it is the primary connector between ourselves and everyone we interact with. The workshop focused on good communication, methods to communicate, and specifically, this month was working with parents to foster affection and build better communication in the home.
Knowledge is Power
Our scholarship students are currently within their third trimester in school, and keep an eye out for an upcoming blog post with more information on our students and how the schooling system within El Salvador functions.
